Group Theme

Our group theme is RFID and how it is used now and how it will be utilized in the future.  RFID has been used for years now, but they are coming up with new ways to utilize the technology.  For example, it is highly used in shopping and in toll booths across the world.

Online Entertainment in 10 Years!

There are so many things to do online that are more entertaining than ever.  The entertainment of the past does not come close to being as fun as online entertainment today.  Today there are social networks like Facebook and twitter that keep society entertained.  As well as millions of free online games, that are pretty good at keeping me preoccupied.  When I look at online entertainment ten years from now i really don't know what to expect, but I do know what I would like to see.  I wanna see more social networks other than the two primary ones.  I think it would be cool if online games were 3d. I love to go to concerts and I know sometimes I don't because they are only in other countries or the city is not on the tour.  So it would be awesome to be able to get access to the concert front row in a 3D view.  However I think if this were possible for all concerts than many people would not waste their money on a plane ticket to get out where the concert is.

What makes a community?

Their are many variables needed to create a solid community.  I will explain the three that I feel are the most important.  The first is economy, without a solid economy in a community, it will be hard for expansion to take place.  Without expansion, a community does not have the opportunity to build appropriate ties to other places that will in the future be a aid to them.  The second important thing needed for a solid community is interaction/communication.  Without communication it makes it hard for a community to interact with each other; a community cannot be strong if their is no form of interaction or relationships being build.  The third most important variable needed for a solid community is a leader.  This I believe is the most important of the three needed to form a community.  The leader helps direct the community; without direction how can a community expect to expand.

Net Worth?

Over the years, my net worth has increased by small increments.  The main reason for the increase is because of me going from being in high school and unemployed, to me now saving money and working.  Recently I have become more independent; I purchased a car and moved out into my own apartment.  In years following I plan on having a good paying job and hope that I my net worth, will increase.  I looked online and I found it pretty cool how their are net worth calculators.  These calculators help people figure out how much they are really worth, instead of just estimating.  Some URL's of net worth calculators are at http://cgi.money.cnn.com/tools/networth/networth.html and http://www.bankrate.com/calculators/retirement/net-worth-calculator.aspx.  I entered my information and my net worth is not very much, considering I am a 21 year-old college student, but I have ambition to have a high net worth in the future.

Yes to Online Shopping

Online shopping is shopping at ease.  Why should I have to walk around the mall all day trying to find the perfect shirt or shoes, when I can just purchase it by the click of a button.  Online shopping is for those busy people that don't have time to go out and do it.  I think this form of shopping is most used today than ever.  Some of the most popular sites are eBay and Amazon and are one of the first online shopping sites made.  I prefer to shop online because their are certain things I can find online for a cheaper price and things that I cant find in stores in my community.  I also online shop when I just don't feel like going out and buying the item.

The top three things I buy online are textbooks, shoes, and my exercise equipment.  However, the three things I would never purchase online are clothes, jewelry, or electronics.  I would not buy clothes online because the one time I did my clothes did not fit even though they were my size.  Next I would not buy jewelry because the size and look of the jewelry could look like a million dollars online, but when you get it it could be complete crap.  Finally I would not buy electronics because I would rather go into the store and play and operate the with the gadgets before I buy it.

Online Scavenger Hunt Results #1-4

Today we did the online scavenger hunt in class.  A couple of questions were hard to find, but overall it was not very difficult to do so.  First I created a itinerary for the Disney Aulani Resort for  kids and 3 aduts; the overall price was pretty high.  The price averaged out to close to $19,000.  Next the book "Screenplay," the Segway Human Transporter, and the Irobot Scooba Robot total price came close to $5500 on Amazon.  Then I found the Web Characterization URL Address, along with Professor Fry's paper submission link.  Finally I found Tacoma Chickadees favorite musicians, three of them are Neko Case, White Stripes, and Beck.  Overall, this scavenger hunt was fun and not to difficult.  My group used some strategy by breaking up the questions into 3 and each of us answering certain questions.  Then we put all of our answers together into one document.  Everything went smoothly and overall pretty well. The toughest thing for me was looking for Tacoma Chickadees, considering I had no ideal where to start my research.  My first thought was that Tacoma Chickadees was a music band or something but turns out it is actually a blogger name.  So that was the trickiest thing.
